These are NOT Clam Shell or White Cone Shell, But the ORIGINAL Genuine Puka Shell Originating in Hawaii and Now from Cebu, Philippines.
They have 1/4″ to Over 1/2″ Genuine Dyed Puka Beads or in Bleach White.
Clasps on Bleached White Necklaces are Tarnished from Our Bleaching, but at the back of the Neck.
In Hawaii, the wearing of puka shells was traditionally thought to ensure a peaceful and safe voyage, especially for sailors on a long journey, so puka shell necklaces were especially worn by those who had to travel at sea.
In modern times, discs cut from other types of shell, or even discs of plastic, are used to make imitation puka jewelry. Cone snail shells are sometimes harvested so that they can be chipped down and ground down to make more authentic-looking puka jewelery, which is however still not 100% genuine compared with the originals.
